Smokin’ Seventeen is the latest instalment of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series. In this book the rather hapless Stephanie appears to be on the hit list of a killer, which when mixed with her complicated personal life and chaotic family does not make for an easy life.
For those who have not yet read this series, Stephanie Plum is an almost disastrous Bounty Hunter for her cousin Vinnie, who crashes through various adventures whilst attempting to persuade those who have missed their Court dates to come back to the legal system. Aided by her sidekick Lula, the pair manage to have cars blow up around them and get into situations no0one else could contemplate with an air of hilarity that is loved by regular readers.
Fort those regular readers, this book will not disappoint as Stephanie faces a series of challenges in keeping her skin intact, facing off against her family’s attempt to match make and keep up with her on again/off again boyfriend Joe and the extra interest from the mysterious Ranger.
Not a crime fiction novel in the truest sense, but an easy romp and laugh for those who enjoy humour, a bit of romance and a plot that doesn’t need any focus.
