What is the connection between a heart attack victim in Los Angeles and a missing young woman in Glasgow?

Well, Craig Robertson is going to take you on a riveting ride back-and-forth across the Atlantic Ocean to find out.

The heart attack victim has a dark secret. He was a collector of memorabilia from killers and their victims. Murderabilia, if you like. Gacy, Berkowitz, Manson, Bundy, Dahmer and Dennis (BTK) Rader, to name a few. But, down in his cellar is a safe; detectives Salgado and Kovacic open it to find even darker secrets as well as a sinister video-feed to a captive that’s still alive.

Back in Glasgow DI Rachel Narey is doing her best to flush what has happened to the missing woman, Eloise Gray, including confronting her erstwhile and prone to violence former boyfriend, Tam Harkness.

And that’s about all I can tell you without spoilers……..all I can reveal is a connection to the Black Dahlia murder, and the dark (oh, so dark) web.

There is an art to putting together a story with dual locations, one that Craig Robertson skilfully nails it here.

I don’t use the epithet ‘page turner’ very often, but ‘Watch Him Die’ certainly earns that title. It twists and turns, but never loses you as it gathers pace towards its dark conclusion. The detectives are realistic and interesting while their quarry is devious, tech-savvy and manipulative.

Highly recommended.
