Adam Colclough lives and works in the West Midlands, he writes regularly for a number of websites, one day he will get round to writing a book for someone else to review.
Meet Riley Wolfe, parkour expert, super-thief and sociopath a man who could steal the smile from the Mona Lisa if he felt the challenge deserving of his talents. In the frame before that is heisting a priceless Iranian diamond from a private museum in New York. Easy, once he's got past the state-of-the-art alarm system, a squad ex-Navy SEALS and a battalion of Revolutionary Guards with itchy trigger fingers.
Fans of Dexter, his previous anti-hero will take to Wolfe straight away, it’s hard not to like a crook with the chutzpah to steal a statue so large his getaway vehicle of choice is a Chinook. This is the through the looking-glass-world of the caper movie, and in Lindsay's company it’s a fun place to visit.
Lindsay keeps the action moving along fast enough to stop you noticing that much of what is happening is wildly unrealistic. Then again reality is overrated, even for those of us who are 'sheep', according to one of Wolfe's numerous laws that need breaking from time-to-time.
There is also a promising sub-plot involving an FBI agent determined to bring Wolfe down by digging into what makes him tick. This has the makings of a cat-and-mouse game fit to enliven several books. They are surely coming, this first in the series sets up no end of strands that can be followed up by a soon to be sizable body of fans who would like to be, a bit, of a Wolfe in their sheep's clothing.
