Have you met Lex Taylor already in Killing It, the author’s debut novel? If so, you’ll be longing to read its successor, The Nursery; a thriller whose fast pace challenged me to keep up with its narrative. Full of deadly serious action combined with funny and witty asides, it’s the second case for Lex Taylor, top class spy by day - and after work the caring mother of Gigi and wife of Will.

Lex works for Platform Eight, a literally underground branch of Her Majesty’s Secret Service; her team providing the assassins called in for the dirty work when the country is at risk, working from the disused tunnels and rooms of London’s underground system at Holborn station.

Lex is used to juggling her job and her home life, but when they have an urgent mission to track down ‘The Snake’ in their midst, it means both her lives converge dangerously. ‘The Snake’ is working for the online Tenebris Network which threatens not only Platform Eight but all UK Security Agents everywhere, so the stakes are high.

The character, Lex Taylor is a fresh breath in the thriller genre. There is doubt about it, The Nursery is full of fascinating characters, pace and action. Both sides of the plot, her job and her home life, keep the reader gripped, thanks to the novel’s lively and witty style.

More please, Asia!
