Karen spent 30+ years as a Civil Servant, mostly in Revenue which is where she developed my absolute hatred of poor writing skills! Her favourite genre is now crime/thriller/police procedural/legal genre with the occasional foray into chick-lit and general fiction.
This is a book about four people, victims of a financial crisis, go on a road trip, apparently to rediscover themselves.
It starts midway through the road trip, they get lost and then crash into a house in the middle of nowhere. After that I was even more lost than they were, I have absolutely no idea what this story was about.
There are lengthy back stories, some told from two different perspectives, often repeated and somehow you feel they maybe relevant but the author doesn't bring it together. There were so many loose ends I found myself wondering if the author was just writing without paying any attention to what he was writing.
It has probably lost something in translation but that can't explain everything that is wrong with this book.
