Shuichi Yoshida

Shuichi Yoshida was born 1968 in Nagasaki and educated in Nagasaki and Tokyo. He won the Bungakukai Prize for New Writers in 1997 for "Saigo no Musuko" (The Last Son), and the Akutagawa Prize in 2002 for "Park Life". In 2002 he also won the Yamamoto Prize for “Parade”, and for winning both literary and popular prizes, Yoshida was seen as a crossover writer. His 2007 novel, “Akunin”(Villain), won the Osaragi Jiro Prize and the Mainichi Publishing Culture Award. His works are translated in English French, Mandarin and Korean. First English translated book “Villain” was out in 2010.
