Crime writer Edward Wright grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and studied English Literature at Vanderbilt University. He briefly joined the navy and spent time on destroyers serving as an Officer before obtaining his Master’s Degree in journalism at Northwestern University before launching his career as a newspaperman. He worked as an editor at the Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times.
He is the author of the John Ray Horn Series. The first book in the series Clea’s Moon won the CWA’s Debut Dagger Award in 2003. It was also short-listed for the Barry Award for Best First Novel. The second book in the series Silver Face (UK) or While I disappear (US) won the Shamus Award and the Southern California Booksellers Association Award in 2004. The third book Red Sky Lament won the Ellis Peters Historical Dagger Award in 2006. It was also short-listed for the Barry Award for Best British Crime Novel in 2007. Damnation Falls his first standalone novel won the Barry Award in 2008 for Best British Crime Novel.
